P-I-T-T

A deeper dive into my experience with the Pitt Athletics Marketing Team. My assigned sports were Football, Basketball, Volleyball, and Wrestling.

NCAA D1 Volleyball

I love women’s sports! Being assigned women’s volleyball as my fall sport was a dream come true. Pitt’s team has competed in the NCAA semi-finals the past four years, so I knew that our program would exceed expectations.

One of our biggest events was ‘Pack the Pete’ where we successfully sold and filled 5,000 seats at the Peterson Event Center.

  • Athletics Marketing Assistants were tasked with the preparations for towel handouts, promotional materials, giveaways, and in-game activations.

Activations included halftime games, escorting athletic talent and decorated alum.

  • Brainstorm sessions were held to think of promotional items to entice new fans.

Promotional items that came to life included: visors, lite brights, Hawaiian shirts, vipers, headbands, bandanas, boat hats, aprons, etc.

  • In addition to marketing contributions, I gained exposure to:

    • Broadcast operations

    • Being lead on-floor coordinator for Pitt's largest men's basketball game

    • Announcing game play

    • Scorer's table logistics

    • Pre-game ceremonies

    • Community recognition

    • Creating game breakdowns/timelines.
